The Financial Aid Database Specialist and Report Writer’s goal will be to maximize the reporting capabilities of the Ellucian Banner system. The position will work collaboratively with the Information Technology Coordinator in the Office of Admission and Financial Aid and with Information Technology Services (ITS) personnel. The Financial Aid Database Specialist and Report Writer will create and modify the reports necessary to support the operations and data needs of the Financial Aid Office.
This position is part time, generally 20 hours per week, supplementing work for an employee on phased retirement. It is a two year position and is not eligible for full benefits. In approximately two years, the position will end and the college will hire a full time employee.
This position will work to develop comprehensive knowledge of the existing Ellucian Banner database, as well as its relationships and functions within the Financial Aid module and between other modules, in order to optimize proper use of this data. As necessary, The Financial Aid Database Specialist and Report Writer will monitor and modify this data for accuracy. This position will also include developing a comprehensive knowledge of the existing SQL server data warehouse and ODS (Operational Data Store). This position will work closely with the Information Technology coordinator and ITS to develop new views and fields as necessary for reporting.
A successful candidate must develop a familiarity with the various technology products used in the Office of Admission and Financial Aid (including OnBase and Slate) that support the division’s efforts.
This position will ensure that the activities of the office and division are well coordinated and delivered in partnership with ITS by cultivating a collaborative working relationship with the Information Technology Coordinator and ITS. In addition to assisting the staff utilize and modify the created reports, The Financial Aid Database Specialist and Report Writer will identify or create the documentation or training necessary for divisional staff to better make use of the available technology that is used by the division.
In order to successfully achieve these duties, the candidate is required to have precision, accuracy, and attention to detail. The ability to work with highly confidential information will also be required. Due to the collaborative nature of the work, this position also requires excellent communication skills, the ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure in a team-based environment, and the capacity to interact courteously with multiple constituencies.
