The AP Summer Institute is seeking a temporary assistant for an approximately 3-month assignment from April through the end of June 2018.
The APSI assistant will be responsible for supporting the APSI coordinator with all aspects of registration, preparation, set-up and implementation of the AP Summer Institute workshops for Advanced Placement high school teachers. This College Board endorsed program attracts AP teachers from all across the country. The APSI assistant must be a good ambassador for Davidson College and present our program and the college in a very positive way.
The APSI assistant must be extremely organized, highly motivated, and have the ability work with a diverse group of individuals and personalities. Must have superior attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of tasks simultaneously and smoothly. Must be able to work with minimal or little supervision and also be able work well under pressure and against deadlines. Excellent knowledge of computers, word-processing and design, is highly preferred. This person must be able to work well with the APSI coordinator and other Academic Affairs staff, as well as effectively communicate and work cooperatively with numerous other staff members across campus. They must also be able to interact well and efficiently assist the APSI consultants and APSI participants.
Other duties as assigned.
Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to learn Cvent, an online event management software program. Excellent clerical and organizational skills. High school diploma.
Mostly indoor and office environment, although running errands on campus will be required. Need to be able to lift 30+ pounds in order to move boxes and supplies for event set-up and tear-down.
