Data Analytics Lab Director

We seek a part-time Director of an emerging Data Analytics Lab in The Hurt Hub at Davidson, with responsibility for supporting student and faculty research and coursework in data science, broadly construed. The ideal candidate will have expertise in a broad spectrum of data analytics methods and software tools and experience applying these methods and tools, particularly in the social sciences. Some advanced coursework in statistics is required, and a PhD in a related field is preferred. Proficiency in Excel and R are essential, along with familiarity with one or more other analytics tools. The duties of the Director are:
- Staff the Data Analytics Lab (15 hours per week)
- Hire, manage and train student workers
- Learn methods and software tools being used on campus
- Ensure Data Analytics Lab hardware and software are in working order
- Evaluate potential programs for faculty and student self-directed learning
Hours: Staffing the lab an average of three hours per day, Monday through Friday, during academic semesters. Remaining hours are flexible, and may be worked remotely and outside of normal business hours. Training and administrative work begin August 1 and end June 15 each year.
Salary: $24,000 per year
