The Communication Studies department at Davidson College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor to direct the college Speaking Center and teach in the Communication Studies department beginning July 1, 2019. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to interdisciplinary undergraduate education and to directing the college speaking center, which includes the training and supervising of peer tutors. The teaching load is four courses per year, including two or three sections of Principles of Oral Communication and one or two upper-level courses in Communication Studies within the candidate’s research area, with experience and/or expertise to teach rhetorical methods strongly preferred. Travel and summer research funding are available.
Candidates should possess demonstrated teaching ability, outstanding academic qualifications, and an active research program. The Ph.D. degree should be in hand by July 1, 2019.
